Punkin Head

I knitted this little hat for the bf's cousin's new baby boy. I have another one on the needles for a little boy who was just born Sunday night. This is such a quick knit that I was able to complete the majority of it during the season premier of Grey's Anatomy.

The hat is based on this pattern by randomstitches. I'm going to have to file this one for safe keeping - I'm sure there will be many more of these in my future!

Francis Finished!

Again with the crappy blackberry pictures... but, at least I'm taking pictures! This is my very first sweater, Francis Revisited. Total success. Totally easy. Totally cute. :)

I was inspired to start with this one by Parikha at sixoneseven and I'm sure many others but I can't seem to remember which blogs they were connected to. Sorry ladies!

Up next, possibly rusted root. Inspired by... again Parikha at sixoneseven. I love her swiss dot take on this one. And Robin at Yarn Crawl and Amanda at Amanda's Adventures in Sewing. Robin's blog is what started my blog addiction and Amanda's was the second blog I added to my favorites list. These ladies are very inspirational with their sewing and knitting and still some of my favorite blogs to read.

This is knit out of crappy alpaca/acrylic blend yarn from Michael's on Knit Picks Zephyr Acrylic needles. I won't do it again, knitting sweaters with crappy yarn that is, but for my first sweater I didn't want to go all out and spend a fortune on a disaster that may not have gotten finished anyway. I don't have an excellent track record with my projects although I have gotten much better about finishing things in the last year. I'm really excited to start Rusted Root. So far cotton is my favorite fiber to knit and knitting an entire sweater of it sounds wonderful.

I'm getting excited!

I have no pictures but... Francis is about 9 rows from having two sleeves! Ladies and gentlemen, I am about to complete my first sweater!! And it really wasn't that hard. Granted, I did pick a pattern with minimal seed stitching and mostly stockinette. But, as accomplishments go, first sweaters are big ones!

I really am crafty, I swear!

So I feel like I started this blog proclaiming my creative itch and then didn't show very much in that area. I really am crafty, I swear! And I really do have the itch. I just also have grad school and a brand new (to me) house to work on. So... I thought I'd share some of my craftiness from last year. Don't judge, all are blackberry pictures. I really need to work on reconnecting my camera to my face.

These are two of the onsies I made for a colleague of mine who had twin boys. There is also another elephant and another neck tie onsie. For some reason I only photographed two. I'm kinda proud of the elephant, I free handed him.



This is the scarf I knit for my sister. As you can see, not very far along at this point. This was my first successful attempt at ribbing. I was excited!


I made a set of these makeup bags and coffee cozies for my sister and best friend for Christmas. I also made spa wraps but... didn't photograph those before they were wrapped.



See? I swear I'm crafty. And in two weeks... I'll have more to show. I'm hoping for huge amounts of production between the end of this semester and the second summer session.
