Monster Monday

Molly McGee half-way through a haircut at Chez Christopher's Doggie Boutique.

This is the third time we've shaved her and she's finally gotten used to the process. She may not like it but you can tell she feels better after its done.

Stocking Tutorial

**Warning, this is really rough**

Yesterday my bff asked if stockings were difficult to make. I assured her that they aren't and that she could pretty much design a pattern herself they were that easy. I thought the easiest way to explain to her how to go about making a stocking would be to draw a diagram.

This is how you explain how to make a stocking to a friend who lives nine hours away:

I just thought I'd share :)

Unexpected Surprise

My girlfriends and I went to a Pirates game back in May. Memorial Day weekend to be exact. They happened to be giving out bobble-head dolls at this particular game but by the time we found a place to park and got to the stadium they had run out. We were given cards to fill out to recieve our bobble-heads (or something of equal value) at a later date.

When we filled out the cards we joked that we probably wouldn't get anything back or that if we did it would be some XXXL t-shirt that we wouldn't be able to wear. But, we filled out the cards none-the-less.

Last week, this arrived in my mailbox.

I had forgotten all about it. What a pleasant surprise. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it but still... it was included in the price of my ticket in some way and I'm glad the Pirates fulfilled their end of the bargain.

Thanks Buccos!!

Is it too early?

I've always been saddened by the leap-frogging the retail industry insists on doing with Christmas that has now mixed the shelves with halloween candy and stockings alike. Each holiday should get its time and its place. But lately I've been reconsidering this idea...

I still don't want to see Jolly St Nick along side ghosts and goblins but the idea of having the Christmas decorations up for Thanksgiving celebrations seems appealing. The biggest reason being.... I don't own Thanksgiving decorations. I've never had a need. No one has ever been at my house for this holiday.

And so... I might have to re-think my stance on this subject. After a recent interest in extending fugality to minimalism, I don't want to buy/make Thanksgiving decor. At least not for this year. And it seems sad not to have a decorated house for the festivities.

So... here's my start to the holiday decorating. In November. And I'm okay with that.

Last Rose of the Season

I can honestly say I was not up for the challenge of rose gardening. I had to coax the plants to put out the few blossoms that they did despite my over-all neglect.

I'm going to start mentally preparing myself for next year.

Monster Monday

Sleepy kitty.

Now that I have to keep my blinds closed thanks to nosey neighborhood kids peeking in my back windows the sunniest place in my house is the corner of the foot of my bed. Dex rarely vacates this spot.

He loves him a momma-made quilt too.

(Oh yes, they are my fur-babies, that makes me momma. I embrace the cat-lady connotation.)

There are no words.

My heart grieves. There are just no words to describe the emotions.

Children.

Innocent children.

And the media used it as an excuse to crucify a good man.

Sometimes no matter what you do, its never enough. You pour your heart and soul into something and it just is never enough.

I am a lion. My heart grieves for the chidren. And Happy Valley.

Three carts full...

On Saturday I made a trip to Ikea with the bf's mom. We had been talking about this trip since early summer and both had quite a list of things we were looking for. I would say the trip was more than successful!

I even bought this rug! I plan on doing a similar design using Shelley's tutorial.

Ps. She's pretty awesome, you should check her out!
