48 Hour Flu

I had the strangest flu bug last week and ended up leaving work early on Monday to recover.

This guy was loving it.

(Excuse the laundry drying in the background, my dryer has been shooting sparks)

Monster Monday

Dexter was a big fan of all the canning I did this weekend. It provided the opportunity for this:

Fast asleep on the rug at the kitchen door. :)

He feels like he needs to keep an eye on me in case I do anything interesting. Once he decided I was staying put for a while, he was out for the count. What a life.

Please excuse the grass... Molly was in and out all day, I gave up on fighting whatever she tracked in until that evening.

I swear they speak

These pictures are a little dark but this was the scene in my bedroom this morning.

Both my monsters watching out the window.

Dex: "Hey, you see any squirrels?"

I swear they have conversations with each other.

I even have video of them working together as a team to accomplish a task. (Dex getting a toy for Molly that I put up high on a bookshelf)

Thankfully they don't gang up on me.

Often.

Monster Monday

Remember the apothecary jar from a few posts back?

They had Dexter in mind when they mailed it in an extra large box with lots of bubble wrap.

Happy kitty.

Monster Monday

I think this might be a sign that Dex needs a diet...

He was rather entertaining trying to squeeze himself into this Roman shade box. Once he was in... he didn't bother to attempt to extricate himself for quite a while...

Hey, hey, what are you doing?

Not paying attention to me? Oh, I'll fix that.

This makes doing homework rather challenging...

Goober. Has to be the center of attention.

Its a good thing he's cute...

Dex turned one year old a few weeks ago. He can be such a monster. Sometimes his pretty blue eyes are his only saving grace. Other times, his antics are the most entertaining thing I've seen. Mostly, I love him. Even when he calls me from the other sid of the house to come and fill up his dish.

Here, he's claimed my new beach cruiser. He would rather rub himself all over the tires than be petted... I see where his love lies... Anything with chrome on wheels. ;)

Sleeping under my cutting table while I work on quilt blocks.

One morning he decided to give Molly's crate a try. Then he thought he should spend the day with her in it! That would have been bad news bears...

Like any cat worth his pur... he loves him a box. Especially kitty sized Corona boxes!

Virginia Beach SPCA Walk

We didn't raise very much money but we had a lot of fun. And so did the dogs. Here are a few pics from the day...

And here's a picture of my favoritest witch!

Neither my sister nor I have any kids yet so, yes, we took our dogs to the pumpkin patch after the walk.

For a Cause

Let me just say that I don't jump on every band wagon cause that comes down the pipe. I just don't. My heart goes out to each and every need out there but... I just don't. No idea why.

This one though, this one is fun. This is doggies parading in costumes on the boardwalk so that other animals can find homes and love. Not that its any better than any other charitable need, its just every morning when Dex is trying to cuddle while I'm trying to get ready for work I'm thankful that God told me to go to the SPCA and get a cat that day. This cat was suppose to come home with me. This cat was mine before I met him. And I was his. He definitely picked me. I think this is a baby step toward parenthood but we won't go there.

And so, I've signed on with my sister to raise a few pennies for the good folks at the Virginia Beach SPCA so that they can get more animals into the homes they were meant to have.

If there's anyone out there in blog land who would like to help me, here's my website:

I greatly appreciate anything and everything that you might be willing to give. Even an encouraging word. :)
