Enchantment of the Seas

Back in January, Chris and I, along with friends of ours, decided to go on a cruise. They hadn't been on a vacation since their honeymoon four years ago and I wanted to do something special for Chris's thirtieth birthday. Because of course, thirtieth birthdays should be celebrated! (And not just with cake) We booked our cruise with Royal Caribean onboard the Enchantment of the Seas and I started the countdown in my planner at 98 Days. Its hard to believe we've been back a week, tomorrow. Enchantment of the Seas is one of Royal Caribean's older cruise ships but I would still recommend it to anyone looking to sail to Bermuda. (Keep in mind, this was my first cruise, so.... if you have alternative opinions, you're entitled to them ;) This is the fruit display that welcomed us in the casual dining room.
The quality of the food was very good. I wouldn't say we were presented with the 5-star delicacies that I've heard others exclaim about experiencing on their cruises but... the food was good. Really good. It is certainly much better than the all-inclusive resorts I've visited. And I certainly ate more than my fair share... ;) Here's a view of the pool deck during boarding when few people had migrated to the top of the ship. You can certainly see that the ship was inspired by Minneapolis's MOMA.
In this photo, you see the two-story formal dining room. It reminded me of a turn-of-the-century steamer in design.
We really enjoyed the service we received in the formal dining room. Our waiter, Nicholas, is from South Africa, and we thoroughly enjoyed his stories of his home, his family, and his experiences working onboard the cruise ships. It would be easy to see him as a professor, perhaps of music which is his passion, if he had been born in a more modernized country. This is one of my towel animals, made by our housekeeper.
Let me just say that the housekeeping staff rocked! Every time we returned to our room, I would lay down on the bed for a minute - usually under the covers because Chris kept the room COLD! And each time, our housekeeper would make up the bed perfectly before we returned again. The housekeepers manned the hallways all day long, making sure our cabins were in perfect order. A++!! Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our Royal Caribean adventure on Enchantment of the Seas. We will certainly be keeping this cruiseline in mind when booking future vacations. And lastly, I'll leave you with a departing shot of us with the ship, prior to our departure from Bermuda.
